I read the March 3 Post story, “Two boys orphaned after crash kills parents.” Needless to say, the accident was a tragic occurrence caused by careless driving once again.
I happened to be affected by it because I was on Florida’s Turnpike heading south at about 10 a.m. going to the Kings Point community to golf. I always exit at Atlantic Avenue, then head east to Jog Road.
As I approached the exit, it was blocked by a policeman. Naturally, I had to continue south to Glades Road, hoping to return north, back to Atlantic Avenue, not knowing the reason for the detouring/blocking. Overall, I had to drive more than 25 extra miles to get to my original destination.
This detouring/blocking of the exit was poorly handled by police in that they should have posted some notice before Atlantic Avenue so that drivers could alter their plans — namely, at one of the Boynton Beach exits.
